Junghans are celebrating 150 years of watchmaking with an 18 carat gold edition of the iconic Max Bill Chronoscope. Today the design still looks fresh – perfect in its simplicity. The case edge is one of the trimmest you will ever see. Glance at it face-on and it is barely there. The case measures 40mm across with a super-domed curved covering constructed from plexiglass. Plexiglass? Scratch-prone plexiglass? Fear not, there are a number of products out there that mean you can do a quick DIY job to restore it to its original glory if you are a bit wrist-clumsy after a few martinis.
The silvered dial features gold hands and elongated whisker slim markers. The 30 minute and 12 hour counters blend in so well that at rest they are almost invisible and that seconds hand appears to almost reach right over the edge of the dial rim. Inside is the automatic chronograph calibre J880.2. The Junghans Max Bill Chronoscope comes presented on a polished calfskin strap and is limited to just 150 superb pieces worldwide.
