Blancpain 500 Fathoms Only Watch Reaches €22,000 at auction

With a starting guide price of €15,000 a unique Blancpain 500 Fathoms No.1/1 fetched €22,000 at the 2009 Only Watch auction held on September 24.

The Only Watch auction which is held each year at the Monaco Boat Show featured 34 timepieces this year, most of the Swiss, all of them unique prototype editions or number 1 of limited edition series. Funds raised at the event go directly to the Monaco Association against Muscular Dystrophy (AMM) charity, created by the parents of children affected by Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

The Blancpain piece which sold at the auction is a unique 1/1 edition of the 500 Fathoms diver’s watch and features an anthracite grey dial with carbon fibre centre panel and a tinted blue sapphire ring providing a transparent view of the date disc rotating beneath with the date window situated at the 6 o’clock position.
