Making a portfolio debut in red gold cases sized at 40mm, paired with midnight blue dials, the Blancpain Villeret Quantème Complet and Villeret Ultraplate models are the epitome of elegance.
Blancpain’s Villeret pieces are characterised by discreet, restrained design. With svelte cases, slim bezels and broad dials the models in this signature collection are styled to slip beneath the cuff beautifully.
Two new models have been unveiled and the more complex of the duo, the Villeret Quantème Complet has one of my favourite moonphase facades, Blancpain’s ethereal little man-on-the-moon.
In addition to the time indications and the moonphase, the piece displays the week day and the month through recessed apertures, and via a seductive serpentine pointer date hand, which cups each day as it encircles the dial. Of particular note, is the inbuilt safety mechanism for the calendar which enables finger-tip operation. Using this patented under-lug corrector system, the wearer can easily set the calendar function without tools and without causing ruinous damage to the movement.
With a less elaborate, but equally eye-pleasing midnight blue dial, the Blancpain Villeret Ultraplate is incredibly slender at just 8.70mm thick. As with all Villeret models, this piece features diminutive Roman numerals which are placed right at the edge of the dial, so there is abundance of empty dial space enabling a full appreciation of the sunburst surface finish.
